Here are more wonderful Jool People from your fellow Jool Pals!

Lea Stein "Carmen"

Once I was attracted to Lea Stein's whimsical pieces, I looked for those in the colors that I wear.  Naturally I couldn't resist this fabulous "Carmen", aka "Joan Crawford" — she's got it all!  I wear her when I want a powerful but playful look.

Madame Butterfly

These Japanese ladies are fur clips made of bone and embedded with rhinestones.  Since I love opera and am on the Hawaii Opera Theater board, I see them as Cio-Cio San (Madame Butterfly) and her maid Suzuki.

Linn Alber

Antony & Cleopatra

I'm intrigued by the origin of these Vogue sterling figurals though I haven't found any info as yet.  To me, they represent Antony and Cleopatra and I just love them!  [Ed. note: the 2006 Jool People Gallery included a similar Vogue pair that were Romeo and Juliet.]

Hobe Ivory Chessman

This 1930s carved ivory brooch was found sitting under a friend's coffee table.  When asked about it, she said "that old thing -- it's just costume!"  I happily paid more than she wanted with the promise that I'd always treasure it.

Tunisian Dancer

I purchased this brooch, signed Authentic, at auction with the intention of selling it, but I just couldn't let it go.  I love the enameling, especially her pants, her gracefulness, the unfoiled stones and the size of the piece over 3" by 2½".

Coro Country Folk

I fell in love with these quaint fur clips when I saw them in an antique store case.  The shop owner had mistaken them for barrettes.  To me, their patriotic enameling suggests hardworking, land-owning Americans from days gone by.

Swirling Dancer & Swordsmen

I love Art Deco and I love figural pins, so these caught my eye.  Purchased separately, they appear to be similar in origin.  Extremely stylized, and full of movement!

Tourist Lady

This little tourist is tiny, not quite two inches tall, but she is bursting with personality.  Her tiny camera dangles around her neck and she wears an adorable little polka dotted dress.  She is signed Spain on the back of her head.  You have to smile just looking at her!

"High Roller" Brooch

This fellow is special just because he is so dang cute!   Even though he is called a crib toy, he is really a toy for us big girls.  We love our jewelry and having a cute guy to play with is something we can all relate to.  He's estimated to be from the 1960s.

Ivory African Woman

Although she was so covered in grime I couldn't determine the material, I was immediately drawn to the far-away, wistful expression on this woman's face.  I love the stylized carving, particularly on the nose and that wonderful hair quite captivating!
