Come share the fun and fellowship as we each share our favorite pieces of people jewelry.   Whether elegant, sentimental or whimsical, these jool people, gathered from around the world, are a delight to behold!

Sterling Sun Goddess

There's a quiet power to this lovely lady and it drew me in from the first.  The brooch is substantial in weight and size [3" diam.] with an unusual front opening safety catch.  Research didn't yield a name or background for this figural, but the laurel leaf wreath is the Greek symbol to honor success, especially for poets and heroes.

Two to Tango

This wonderful vintage celluloid brooch depicts a man and woman dancing a tango. It is 2 3/4 inches tall, has a "C" clasp and is marked with a faint JAPAN.  It brings back memories of the "big band" era!

Flora Cameo Brooch

This wonderful angel skin coral cameo brooch (w/ pendant hook) depicts 'Flora' the Roman goddess of flowers and of Spring. I was attracted to her elaborate carving which is of almost museum quality. Her prior owner found the piece buried at the bottom of a jewelry lot, as if no one knew she was there. I love the story!

Telephone Lady

From time to time I come across these embossed metal figurals, sometimes called "robotic" or "whimsy" pieces.  I find them quite amusing!  This is my favorite, and the most complex design.  I love the 3-D effect.

Playful Cherubs

This is perhaps the best piece I have because it came from my friend Jesse Moore. It measures 1 3/8" by 1 1/8" tall, in a lovely brass beaded frame with a 'c' clasp. The reverse carved crystal, held in place by four prongs is beveled, and shows three little cherubs, one blowing bubbles, and two trying to catch them. An endearing brooch, that holds many pleasant memories of days gone by.

Boop-boopee-doo !

This brooch is one of my favorites because I love whimsical jewelry, and am a Betty Boop fan!   [One of my best friends is named Betty, and her nickname is Boop.]   Her tote charm is from the Texas Centennial, 1936.

King Arthur Brooch

This pot metal brooch of King Arthur is submitted in memory of my husband, Dow, who passed away this summer.  It was one of many that he bought and liked and told me to keep.  We spent many hours looking for antiques and collectibles. He encouraged me to deal in jewelry and buttons and was a good picker himself.  Some of my best pieces are because of him.

Many Faces Necklace

This necklace belonged to my mother-in-law, Pat, a kind, gentle, amazing lady. The faces have always fascinated me with their painted features.  I believe the materials may be a type of plastic with brass.  It measures 14 inches and the closure is a large spring ring.  This piece is so like Pat: unique and special.

Art Deco Figure

I love this powerful JJ brooch -- it makes your imagination run.  It reminds me of the Fritz Lang movie Metropolis or of fantastic Art Deco wall panels.  This figure receiving energy from the sun could also be a Medieval warrior getting ready to fight his battle.

Veteran Lady Dancer

This gal has not had an easy life.  She's not the prettiest, her dress has been patched, and her feet are bare.  She forgot to put on her lipstick, and she can't see too well anymore, either.  But...and, here's the important part...she's still dancing!

Dutch Couple

This darling Dutch pair are sterling brooches that belonged to my mom.  I can remember her wearing these on her lapel so they have great sentimental value.  [Ed. note:  it looks like he's offering a token of love and she's going to help it to grow.]

Saluting Sailor

This unsigned sailor brooch has blue bead eyes, red bead nose, and what appears to be a small nail as his cigarette.  He's big too - almost four inches high.  It is important to me because I got it from a very close friend while I was in a wheelchair recovering from a broken hip.  My friend took me to the Antonio Silver Exhibit at UCLA here in California  despite the wheelchair and then to lunch where we examined some finds and I received this cool sailor.

Joyous Cameo

This cameo lady and her cherub companion was one of the first pieces that I purchased at an auction about 20 years ago.  I wasn’t even looking at jewelry at auction at that time, but there it was with a damaged pin back, half covered with a thick gunk, I don’t know much about cameo’s, but it is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.

Swingin' Jazz Band

Josephine Baker's Jazz Band are hand wrought pins, each about 3", and made in France of chrome and red galalith with enamel accents.   I love them because they are sleek, sophisticated and really sensual.  I always wear them together and they create quite a sensation, just as she did.
